FRESH THINKING ON GROUP BENEFITS

WE HELP A PACKAGING FIRM THINK OUTSIDE OF THE PENSION BOX

Through a series of mergers and acquisitions, a client found themselves with multiple retirement savings plans at various institutions and an administrative headache. Amalgamation had been considered but abandoned due to each division having unique provisions that had to be maintained. The TWG pension area introduced a solution through a top tier provider that met all of the client’s objectives.

In addition to the new simplified administration, plan members now benefit from the lower investment fees negotiated by TWG, and our personal, one on one, Investment Coaching Service has helped to minimize the anxiety that often accompanies change.

A COMPLETE DISABILITY MAKEOVER AT THE TWG CLINIC

A major beauty firm booked themselves into the TWG CLINIC for an assessment as they were alarmed at their rising disability costs. A problem that had accelerated over the previous two years, and a situation that meant they went from having significant surpluses to significant deficit. This had also been exacerbated by the fact that key-cost drivers had not been identified by their previous consultant.

By working through the TWG CLINIC process with their HR and Finance
departments, we were able to:

• identify key cost drivers;

• review current funding strategy;

• negotiate with their existing carrier;

• negotiate retroactive savings; and

• implement a long term strategy plan.
 

GIVING A SECOND GENERATION BUSINESS A SECOND CHANCE

The current owners of a 2nd generation, family-owned business wanted to retire. However, they felt they couldn’t afford to do so without putting undue financial pressure on their business, their son (selected to take over the business), or their estate that had been earmarked for their other children (not involved in the business).

TWG developed a customized, integrated strategy that:

• allowed the owners to transfer control of their business to their son immediately;

• met their personal retirement and lifestyle needs; and

• enabled them to leave their children a sizeable estate.

 Achieved without financial stress to their business or the son taking over.

 

A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH

After a senior executive had undergone a healthcare risk assessment with TWG, a potentially serious condition was spotted. As the executive was due to undertake an imminent and potentially fatal long haul flight to Asia, we had to act swiftly.

Being aware that more information was needed to ascertain an indepth diagnosis, we intervened to ensure the executive cancelled his flight. He then received further diagnostic work via our medical professionals. Once in place, we put together an action plan for his recovery. He made a full recovery and was back on the plane within one month.
